Where is the OBD-port or CAN bus connector located on the car?
The OBD port, also known as the OBD interface (CAN bus connector), is located in the driver's footwell at the height of the steering column cover and is freely accessible.

If the OBDAPP interface is correctly plugged into the CAN bus, this is indicated by a flashing red LED.
Please note: with the new BLACK/RED/BLUE housing version, no active LED display is output / displayed. If no connection to the interface is possible, please contact support: support@obdapp.com

OBDAPP doesnt connect with Bluetooth?
Please check whether you have activated Bluetooth in the device settings. According to the brief instructions, the GPS must also be activated on Android devices. Furthermore, the queries on Android devices must be confirmed with Allow if the OBDAPP was opened for the first time. If this was denied, please delete the OBDAPP and reinstall it to positively confirm the dialogs.

Please also check again whether the OBDAPP interface is correctly plugged into the CAN bus plug and thus a red LED is signaled.

Please note: with the BLACK/RED/BLUE housing version, no active LED display is output / displayed. If no connection to the interface is possible, please contact support: support@obdapp.com

OBDAPP reports VIN not readable?
Please check whether the OBDAPP interface is correctly connected to the CAN bus connector. Then check whether the ignition on the vehicle is activated, as this is the only way to read out the chassis number (=VIN) and accordingly only then the functions of the OBDAPP are available.

OBDAPP reports unknown version?
Please contact our support at support@obdapp.com that we can store an update of the firmware status for your OBDAPP interface so that you can use your OBDAPP as usual again.
If a firmware update has been carried out, please remove the OBDAPP interface from the CAN bus connector and reconnect it according to the brief instructions.

can i stay connected with the OBD-port and my OBDAPP Interface?
If necessary, you can of course leave the OBDAPP interface in the vehicle in order to access the telematics data while driving or to call up or delete the error memory.

is it possible to delete the DTC fault memory while engine is running?
You can easily delete the fault memory even when the engine is running or while driving. Please note that it is advisable to change the ignition after deleting the error memory (of an individual control unit or if a broadcast was sent to all control units).

an DTC fault memory entry isnt possible to delete, after each try to delete it appears again, what can i do?
If a fault cannot be cleared and is still present in the relevant control unit after the ignition has been changed, then a hardware or software defect must be assumed. Please contact your dealer or workshop to have the problem checked.

OBDAPP operating instructions: sequences run / factory reset
When you start the OBDAPP and connect to the OBDAPP interface, the sequence list is automatically started, which provides you with all the booked functions depending on the chassis. SERVICE functions are unlimited for all supported VAG vehicle models as well as all other functions of the OBDAPP (fault memory, real-time vehicle data)

Each function can be used as often as you like, and can also be reset to the factory settings if necessary. For example, if your vehicle is reset to the factory settings as part of a service campaign, you can conveniently run the desired functions on the vehicle again at any time via the OBDAPP and thus activate them. If necessary, the desired function can also be reset to the factory settings at any time, for example if you want to return the vehicle and restore the original condition.

After performing a function, it is advisable to change the ignition on the vehicle and then check the function.

OBDAPP operating instructions: DTC fault memory section
The fault memory can be accessed without limitation for all supported VAG group vehicles and, if necessary, deleted individually for each control unit or with the broadcast function for all control units.

To call up the error memory area, the sequence list must first be closed (iOS: SWIPE from top to bottom Android: arrow back button). On the main overview with SWIPE to the LEFT the error memory area is opened.

With the selection Read fault memory from gateway (press briefly), all available control units are listed. Each control unit can be selected individually and the error memory entry can be displayed in detail.

The error memory can be deleted in the overview by long tapping on the respective control unit (individually for each control unit or with selection broadcast to all control units) or after calling up the error memory entry in detail by selecting Delete error memory.

If you have deleted all desired error memory entries of the respective control units, you can check again whether error entries remain by selecting Read error memory from gateway. (it is advisable to change the ignition beforehand)
If there are errors in the individual control units after reading them out again, they require further analysis.

DTC fault memory section summarized::

  • Read and delete error memory for each control unit
    • Detailed display of the error memory entries based on: error code, error description, mileage and date of the respective error
    • History of the queried error memory entries
  • Broadcast delete function on all built-in control units
  • Diagnostic log with all detailed information can be saved as a PDF

OBDAPP operating instructions: DTC fault memory diagnostic protocoll
A detailed diagnosis log of all installed control units or all control units with errors can be created by selecting Read error memory from gateway (press and hold).

Depending on the selection (read out ECUs completely / read out ECUs with errors), the corresponding control units are read out and documented together with history such as mileage and date / time of the error. The diagnostic log can then be saved as a PDF and made available to your workshop if required.
